This children’s safety workshop is specially designed to train children on Fire Safety, Fire Prevention and the right techniques on how to escape in a Fire.

INTRODUCTION
The Fire Kids’ Club Safety Workshop was formed in 1999 under the umbrella of the Malaysian Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association (M.V.F.R.A.).

As far as our country is concerned there is still lack of Safety Awareness even among the adults.  There are instances whereby children do not know what to do when faced with a fire in their homes.

In the absence of their parents, they panic at the first sight of a fire and act on instinct by hiding under the bed or in the cupboard.  This is tragic! We are therefore undertaking the task of training the young the basic steps on Fire Safety.

The children are taught other things besides how to escape from a burning house, what to do when their clothes caught fire and also how to make emergency calls.

The lively session is never dull as there are lots of activities like games, music etc. In fact, the parents who accompany their children not only enjoy themselves, they will also learn something.

FUTURE PLAN
In a span of a few years, MVFRA has managed to train no less than 5,000 children from ages 5 to 12.  We have organized Fire Kids’ Club Safety Workshops in Penang, Sungei Patani (Kedah), Malacca, Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur.

Our target is to train between 20,000 to 25,000 children by the year 2005. Our objective is to spread out our activities and conduct Fire Kids’ Club Safety Workshops throughout Malaysia particularly to the smaller towns.

“CHILDREN IS OUR FUTURE; DON’T LET THEM PERISH IN A FIRE”
