Association donates clothes to fire
victims
SIXTY fire victims from Taman
Selera Muda, Cheras, received clothes and provisions from the San
Peng Road Voluntary Fire Department Association on Sunday.
The clothes and provisions were
from among the items donated to the association by the public, said
K.Balasupramaniam, 20, Captain of the voluntary team.
The three-year-old team with 20
members have been involved in major rescue work in recent tragedies.
The association has also
donated goods to the victims of the Puchong landslip a month ago.
The families have been staying
in the area from 1979. Almost all of them operate small businesses
like sundry stores, motorcycle workshops and furniture shops.
The estimated loss from the
fire which engulfed their homes last Thurday, was RM189,000.
The 39 adults and 21children
will stay at the Cheras Secondary School Hall until they find new
homes.
Abdul Ghani Haji Mohammmad,
chairman or the Taman Selera Muda residents’ association said all
the families applied for City Hall flats in October last year.
He hoped that City Hall would
look into their applications soon.
