MVFRA was formed in 1990 by three young members of
The Malaysian Fire & Rescue Cadet Corp led by K.Balasupramaniam.
Within one year, the team
managed to increase the membership to 32. They were
actively involved in fire prevention activities in the Klang Valley
besides being a secondary back up to the Fire and Rescue Department.
In
1992, the association’s rescue efforts in the Bright Sparkles Fire
Tragedy in Sungai Buloh was given recognition by the Fire & Rescue
Department (Bomba). One year later, MVFRA once again responded to the call to help
in the nation’s most devastating tragedy, the Hill View Highland Towers
tragedy that claimed more than 40 lives.
For our efforts, MVFRA was
given due recognition by the Honorable Prime Minister, Y.A.B. Dato’ Seri
Dr. Mahathir Bin Mohamad in 1994.
Since
then, MVFRA has increased its membership many folds and we have conducted
various community projects such as
The Fire Kids Club Safety Workshop,
The
Road
Rescue Riders “Learn To Save Lives In Road Accidents”
Programme, The
Fire Hydrant Adoption Program
etc. In 1999, MVFRA received the
National Youth Award
in recognition for the services rendered to the country.
