Announcement of The Outstanding Young Malaysian Awards 2004

The Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Dato’ Ong Tee Keat announced the list of The Outstanding Young Malaysian honourees in a press conference on 13th September 2004. A total of 7 honourees and 6 certificates of merit are selected from nominees of 10 different fields, while 3 awards remained vacant. To view the list of awardees, click here!

Kuala Lumpur: The list of honourees for The Outstanding Young Malaysian Awards (TOYM) 2004 is finally released. Famous artist Lee Sin Chet is the honouree for Cultural Achievement Award; Famaous artist Sheila Majid, YB Chew Mei Fun and national badminton player Wong Choong Hann are on the list of awardees as well.

·        Business, economic or entrepreneurial accomplishment; Honouree Award: Chong Siew Ree; Certificate of Merit: Dato’ Aric Ng Wai Sing

·        Academic leadership and accomplishment; Honouree Award: Prof.  Dr. Zaini Ujang

·        Political, legal and government affairs; Honouree Award: YB Chew Mei Fun

·        Scientific and technological development; Honouree Award: Prof. Dr. Mohd Azmi Mohd Lila; Certificate of Merit: Asso Prof Dr. Peh Kok Khiang; Certificate of Merit: Dr. Wong Shaw Voon.  

·       Humanitarian and voluntary service; Honouree Award: Balasupramaniam Krishnan; Certificate of Merit: Cheng Jin Ek

·        Cultural Achievement; Honouree Award: Lee Sin Chet; Certificate of Merit: Sheila Majid

·        Personal improvement and accomplishment; Honouree Award: Joanne Yeoh Pei Sze, Certificate of Merit: Wong Choong Hann

 

As for the vacant awards are for medical innovation, moral or religious leadership, and  contribution to children, world peace or human rights

The organizing chairman, Mr. Roger Ang said the objective of the TOYM award is to accord recognition to young Malaysian aged between 18 to 40, with exceptional achievement in contributing to the progress or welfare of the community at large, and to advancement of their respective fields, thereby serving as inspirational example for the youths to actively involve in the development of the community.

The TOYM awards night, organized by Junior Chamber Malaysia International, and adopted by the Junior Chamber Kuala Lumpur Mandarin, is scheduled on the 2nd October at Time Square Manhattan Ballroom, KL. Guests from Malaysia and oversea will join in witnessing the recognition and awarding of 13 honourees. The public, youths especially, are invited to attend the award night, in witnessing and learning from their success journey.
